Chamber of Commerce to Hold Ribbon-Cutting for Historic Barbershop in Downtown Centralia

The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Historic Barbershop in Centralia on April 5 at noon.

The celebration will be held at the barber shop, which is located at 105 W. Main St. in Centralia.

Owners Gil and Janet Hernandez will be present to celebrate with coupons and refreshments.

Before attending the Paul Mitchell School in Temecula, California, Gil Hernandez had cut hair throughout his time in high school. After working in the electrical industry for two years, Gil Hernandez joined his wife at the Paul Mitchell School to learn to be a barber. Janet Hernandez graduated in cosmetology while Gil Hernandez graduated with honors twice, in the cosmetology and barber programs.

Historic Barbershop specializes in “traditional gentlemen’s haircuts,” with hot lather and hot towel shaves and shampoos, according to the chamber. The barbershop will add coloring services in the near future.

The couple has been looking for a place in downtown Centralia and believe their location is a perfect fit.

“We are so excited to be a part of the downtown Centralia business community,” Gil Hernandez said. “We just want to make people feel good and look good at an affordable price.”
