Chehalis City Manager Jill Anderson received a generally positive 2020 evaluation from the city council. Centralia City Manager Rob Hill’s performance was not evaluated by the council in 2020 because of COVID-19 concerns.

Anderson was evaluated on community relations, city council relations, personal traits, goal achieving, communication, fiscal management, intergovernmental relationships and decision making.

The council members provided anonymous comments within each category with a general comment provided that read simply “doing awesome.”

The council raised concerns in the “governmental relationships” category regarding the abrupt termination of the fire station sharing agreement with Lewis County Fire District 6.

“Please communicate with electeds,” a comment read.

Centralia Human Resources and Risk Manager Angie Stritmatter said normally a city manager evaluation is completed annually but it was not completed in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“The council has not been able to meet in person until just this last week. An evaluation of this nature requires an in-person meeting amongst the council and the city manager,” Stritmatter said.

Stritmatter said that now that the council is able to meet in person, a city manager evaluation for 2021 is in the works. The city hopes to complete it by the end of April.
