Don and Onalee Stannek celebrated their 67th year of marriage on Saturday, Aug. 21. The two were married in 1954 at St. Mary’s Church in Centralia.
Onalee Stannek, 86, is originally from Yankton, South Dakota, and graduated from Yankton High School in 1953. Don Stannek, 92, is a 1946 graduate of Pe Ell High School and retired from the Air Force in 1952.
The couple met when Onalee was 19 years old and visiting Chehalis. Her aunt played Cupid and introduced her to Don, 26 at the time.
Onalee and Don raised two children, a son and daughter, both of whom are now deceased. They also have two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with another one on the way in October.
Don worked for Boeing for about 20 years.
After living many years in Pe Ell on more than 120 acres, Don and Onalee moved to Chehalis and now reside at Woodland Village retirement community with their little dog, Zoey.
