Chehalis Cub Scout Pack 9301 was recently awarded 47 pinewood derby cars by the Regional Council, which recognizes the recent growth of the Cub Pack.
“With this award, we’ll be able to continue to reduce costs to families for our local Cub Scouts to participate in scouting and scouting events like the Pinewood Derby,” said Laura Brawders, Cub Scoutmaster for Pack 9301. “We are grateful to the Pacific Harbors Council for recognizing our efforts to increase our pack membership.”
According to Tricia Salazar, district associate for Pacific Harbors Council District, the unit “has achieved an incredible 27% membership growth.”
Part of the Cub Scout Program of Scouting America, the Pinewood Derby is an annual event run by Cub Scout packs where participants build their own miniature cars out of wood to race.
Chehalis Cub Scout Pack 9301 will hold their Pinewood Derby in April.
The program is open to boys and girls in grades kindergarten through the fifth grade. To learn more about joining Chehalis Cub Scout Pack 9301, contact Brawders at cubmasterpack9301@gmail.com, visit scouting.org or contact the City of Chehalis Parks and Recreation office.
The pack meets on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. at the Chehalis Scout Lodge, located at 278 SE Adams Ave. in Chehalis.
