Chehalis Man Accused of Head-Butting, Choking Victim in July

A Chehalis man is facing assault charges for allegedly head-butting and choking a woman at a Chehalis residence on July 27.

The defendant, Donny R. Elliott, 45, appeared virtually in Lewis County Superior Court on Friday — two days after he was charged with the assault of a separate victim earlier in July.

The new case was initially filed as a gross misdemeanor case in Lewis County District Court, but was dismissed in that court this week and refiled in superior court as a felony case.

Elliott is accused of head-butting and repeatedly choking the victim, then prohibiting her from leaving the Chehalis residence where the incident occurred. He is facing one count of second-degree assault, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines.

Judge James Lawler set Elliott’s bail at $75,000 and scheduled an arraignment hearing for Thursday, Sept. 30.
