Children’s theater program to offer free performance of ‘The Mystery of Chehalis’ at McFiler’s Chehalis Theater

Following the first free Dandelion Creative Space children’s theater program last December, culminating in a performance of “The Bigfoot Who Stole Christmas” at McFiler’s Chehalis Theater, a cast of 14 kids ages 7 to 16 are getting ready to put on another performance this week.

“Their performance will be free, just like last year, as we want to encourage community members to come and support their hard work,” Dandelion Creative Space founder Jennifer Kinsman said in a news release.

On Thursday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m., Dandelion’s children’s theater program will present the one-time performance of “The Mystery of Chehalis.” It will once again be held at McFiler’s, located at 558 N. Market Blvd. in downtown Chehalis.

Community partners that helped contribute to the production of “The Mystery of Chehalis” include McFiler’s Chehalis Theater, Bigfoot Treasure, PackageHub Business Centers’ Mail Plus Chehalis, the City of Chehalis Parks and Recreation Department and the James Augustus Smith Charitable Performing Arts Trust.

The Dandelion children’s theatre program is a part of Dandelion Creative Space, which was founded in 2022 by Kinsman — a local middle and high school art teacher — to help give both children and adults in the region easier access to supplies and space for the arts.
