Christopher "Chris" R. Johnstone

Christopher "Chris" R. Johnstone was born in Olympia, Wash., and then moved to Centralia. His parents were Bob and June Johnstone. Chris passed away in Tacoma after a prolonged illness.

He attended school in Centralia and graduated from Centralia High School. Chris was active in Boy Scouts of America, where he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. He fondly remembered several Boy Scout trips and his time on the staff of the Boy Scout Camp near the Boundary Waters Wilderness area, where he was a guide leading canoe trips.

Chris attended Centralia College and graduated from Northwest Nazarene College with a bachelor of arts degree. He later earned a masters degree from University of Washington. Chris taught English and drama at Yelm High School. He enjoyed sailing and acting in local neighborhood theaters in Olympia and Tacoma, his other interests were reading, writing, bird watching and gardening.

Chris is survived by his wife and son, both of Tacoma; his parents, Bob and June Johnstone of Centralia; and brother, Jeff and family of Olympia.
