Commissioners Extend Deadline to Fill Three Vacancies on Lewis County Planning Commission

Posted

The Lewis County Planning Commission is still looking to fill three vacancies after the Board of County Commissioners this week approved an extension of the deadline to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27.

The planning commission is looking to bring on one person living in Commissioner District No. 1, one person living in Commissioner District No. 3, and someone to fill an at-large position, meaning they can live anywhere within the county.

Planning commissioners serve four-year terms  on a board of seven voting members, that meets twice a month. Meetings are generally held at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, and have been mostly held online on Zoom.

“The planning commission assists Lewis County’s community development department in carrying out its duties, including helping prepare and execute the comprehensive plan and helping adopt development regulations,” read a county news release.

Individuals interested in serving on the Lewis County Planning Commission may submit an application and letter of interest to commission Clerk Rieva Lester.

Applications can either be mailed to the board of county commissioner’s office at 351 N.W. North Street, Chehalis, Washington, 98532; filled out in-person at the office; or submitted by email to committees@lewiscountywa.gov (the commission requests applicants include “Planning Commission” in their subject line).
