White Christmas

Dec. 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 18 at 2 p.m.; at the Evergreen Playhouse, 226 W. Center St., Centralia; 7:30 p.m.

The Evergreen Playhouse presents White Christmas. Adult tickets are $18 while tickets for students and seniors are $15. 

 

December Business After Hours

Dec. 15 at Awesome Chevrolet Buick, 2580 N. National Ave., Chehalis; 5 p.m.

This event is co-hosted by the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce and includes an ugly sweater contest.

 

Free Lacrosse Clinic

Dec. 15 at NW Sports Hub, 701 Allen Ave., Centralia; 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Free lacrosse clinic for children in first through eighth grade. 

 

Southwest Washington Dance 25th Anniversary Nutcracker 

Dec. 15, 16, 17 and 18 at the Corbet Theatre, 600 Centralia College Blvd., Centralia

The Nutcracker will be performed at Centralia College’s Corbet Theatre on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 18 at 1 and 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $24 for adults and $16 for children, seniors and military members. Tickets are available online at www.swwdance.org. After Dec. 11 tickets are also available at the Corbet Theatre Box Office from 2 to 7 p.m. The Thursday, Dec. 15 showing is a “pay what you can” showing with tickets being sold at the box office beginning at 6 p.m.

 

Centralia Holiday Farmer’s Market

Dec. 16, 17 and 18 at The Old Dress Barn, 2000 Haviland St., Centralia; 10 a.m.

Many local food and craft vendors will be present. The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 and Saturday, Dec. 17. The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18. Santa will arrive at 11 a.m. on Saturday. 

 

Meet the Makers 

Dec. 17 at HUBBUB, 505 N. Tower Ave., Centralia; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This event will feature Sara Smiley of Design by SML and Ben King of Mt. Ellinor Candle Company. Both Smiley and King produce products featuring the mountain peaks of the Pacific Northwest and on Saturday both will launch a custom product featuring a local peak, Seminary Hill.

 

Elf on a Shelf

Dec. 17 in Chehalis and Centralia, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Chamber of Commerce’s Elf on a Shelf will be at Centralia’s PostNet, located at 1121 Harrison Ave. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The elf will then be at Chehalis’ Book N’ Brush, located at 518 N. Market Blvd., from 2 to 2:30 p.m. The elf’s helpers will be on hand to give out raffle tickets to shoppers who purchase $10 or more as part of the Chamber’s Great Receipt Exchange promotion. The giveaway is two stockings stuffed with gifts from local small stores, one from Chehalis and one from Centralia. The winning tickets will be drawn on Dec. 17 with the winners announced on social media and called.

 

Local Author Book Signing Event

Dec. 17 at Book N’ Brush, 518 N. Market Blvd., Chehalis; 2 to 4 p.m.

Four local authors will be present to sign copies of their books at Book N’ Brush. Ann Stinson will sign copies of her book “The Ground at My Feet: Sustaining a Family and Forest.” Sandy Crowell will sign copies of her books of  “The Land Called Lewis, A History of Lewis County, Washington” and “Water, Woods and Prairies, Essays on the History of Washington’s Capital County,” discussing Thurston County. Bill Lindstrom will be present to sign copies of his book “John Tornow Villain or Victim?: The Untold Story of the Wildman of the Wynoochee.” Mimi Feldman will sign copies of her book “He Came in with It: A Portrait of Motherhood and Madness.” Feldman may be joined by her son Nick O’Rourke, who the book was written about.

 

Afternoon With the Authors



Dec. 17 at the Lewis County Historical Museum, 599 NW Front Way, Chehalis; 2 to 4 p.m.

The Lewis County Historical Museum is hosting this event which will allow attendees to meet authors and buy books for the authors to sign. This event is a benefit for the historical museum and supports local authors. About a dozen authors are currently signed up to attend.

 

Dinner and Bingo Fundraiser

Dec. 17 at Napavine Trinity Rebekah’s, 111 W. Washington St., Napavine; 4 p.m.

Entry to the fundraiser is $25 which includes a spaghetti dinner, drink and dessert, and two bingo card packs. Dinner begins at 4 p.m. and bingo begins at 6 p.m. Participants can win a ham or turkey. Raffles and 50/50 drawings will be part of the event. 

 

TICA Cat Show

Dec. 17 and 18 at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds, 1909 S. Gold St., Centralia

The show will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is presented by “AND A Mouse Cat Club.” Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors, vets and students. Groups of four can enter for $20. Parking is free. Attendees can shop for animal toys, beds and accessories as cats compete for awards during the show. 

 

Holiday Piano Concert

Dec. 18 at the Morton United Methodist Church, 427 Main St., Morton; 1 to 2 p.m.

John Nilsen will perform a free holiday piano concert. Nilsen is a world renowned performer and composer from Portland. Interested individuals can listen to Nilsen on YouTube. 

 

Newaukum Golf Course Weekly Bingo

Dec. 20 at the Newaukum Golf Course, 153 Newaukum Golf Drive, Chehalis; 5:30 to 7 p.m.

This is a free event at the Newaukum Golf Course.

 

Christmas Day Service

Dec. 25 at the Morton United Methodist Church, 427 Main St., Morton; 2 p.m.

A Christmas drama entitled “The Christmas Story Told Anew” will be performed by Morton and Randle church members who are actors in the Roxy Community Theater of Morton. The performance is an original retelling of the birth of Jesus. Visitors can witness the story of Christ’s birth anew and sing songs of praise.

 

Newaukum Golf Course Weekly Bingo

Dec. 27 at the Newaukum Golf Course, 153 Newaukum Golf Drive, Chehalis; 5:30 to 7 p.m.

This is a free event at the Newaukum Golf Course.

 

‘Show Me the Father’ Free Showing

Dec. 30 at Christian Fellowship of Winlock, 630 Cemetery Road, Winlock; 6 p.m.

This is a free showing of the Kendrick Brothers’ movie “Show Me the Father.” The movie inspires one to look at how they relate to their father and to God. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. No child care is provided. 

 

Centralia College Choir

Jan. 8 at the Corbet Theatre, 600 Centralia College Blvd., Centralia; 7 p.m.
