Reigning Evergreen Conference MVP Layna Demers fired a four-inning, three-strikeout shutout in her second start in the Class 1A Evergreen League and first shutout over Hoquiam, 12-0 in five innings on Monday night at home.

Demers needed 44 pitches – 29 of them strikes – to go through the Grizzlies lineup unscathed. She got early run support with a six-run bottom of the first that featured RBI hits from Charlie Culp, Arissa LeBaron, Piper Quarnstrom plus Demers.

Rochester (4-1, 3-0 Evergreen) has scored double digit runs in the four-game winning streak. Culp and Demers each recorded two hits and drove in a combined seven runs. Cheyenne Justice scored three times for the Warriors.

Rochester and Hoquiam will tangle again on Thursday.
