Dorothy “Dot” Mae Workman, 50, went to be with the Lord, April 26, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. She passed away at her home in Mossyrock, Wash., with family by her side and surrounded by love. Dot was born in Morton, Wash., Aug. 17, 1968, to Toby and Jennette Belcher.

She spent her childhood in Mossyrock with her parents and older brother, Toby Belcher II, working and playing on their farm. In high school, Dot moved to Alaska, where she graduated in 1986. Soon after high school, Dot married her high school sweetheart, Kevin Workman Sr. They quickly started their family and moved between Washington and Alaska before finally settling in Washington State.

Dot worked for several years as the retail manager of the Degoede Bulb Farm and Gardens where her love and appreciation for beautiful flowers grew. After Dot and her husband, Kevin, made the decision to become foster parents, Dot took a step back from work and concentrated on her family. She and Kevin fostered and cared for numerous children throughout the years and changed many of those lives along the way. Dot and Kevin officially adopted three young, beautiful children. Later in life, she became an advocate for individuals with special needs, first as a volunteer and later as an employee of PAVE. Dot also worked for the South Sound Parent Coalition, continuing her work as an advocate. She was incredibly passionate about the work she did, and it was easy to see in the countless ways she was able to help families.

Dot enjoyed spending time in her backyard, surrounded by her flowers and often hosting barbecues and campfires. She loved to take trips in her RV discovering new campgrounds, new sites and meeting new people. Her favorite getaway was the beach, where she made lasting memories with her family and friends over the years. But, to Dot, nothing ever topped spending time with her grandbabies.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin Workman Sr.; children, Kevin Workman Jr., Cassandra Butler (John Butler), Amanda Allen (Brad Allen), Aimee Smith, Amber Smeall (Wyatt Smeall) and Aaron Workman; nine grandchildren; parents, Toby and Jennette Belcher; and brother, Toby Becher II (Trisha Belcher). Dot was a cherished and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and advocate. She shared her friendship and love of Jesus with everyone she met.

A memorial service remembering and celebrating Dot’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2019,  at Sticklin Funeral Chapel in Centralia, Wash.
