Eklund Finishes Runner-Up at 2A EvCo Championships

Finishing nine strokes back of individual champion Britt Rajcich of Aberdeen, W.F. West’s Natalie Eklund continued her strong season on the greens Tuesday at the 2A Evergreen Conference girls golf championships at Tumwater Valley Golf Course. 

The junior carded an 89 to finish as runner-up, scoring 44 on the front nine and 45 on the back nine. 

Behind her, teammate Grace Oien (96) finished fifth, Abby Alexander finished tied for ninth (103), Kendall Rasmussen finished 12th (103), Macee Shannon finished 18th (115), and Joy Stafford finished 20th (117). 

All six of W.F. West’s golfers will advance to districts next week. 

Centralia was led by top golfer Samantha Johnston, who finished tied for third with a score of 95. Emily Wilkerson carded a 116 to finish 19th, and Tess McMurry carded a 121 to finish tied for 22nd. 



All three Tigers will move on to the district round next week, as well. 

Rochester’s Isabella Masias was again its top scorer, finishing seventh and scoring a 99, improving her score by a stroke on the back nine. Audrey Williams finished tied for 22nd (121) to round out district qualifiers. 

Black Hills’ Grace Hurley finished eighth (101), Mayah Hamilton finished tied for ninth (103), Ellie Johnson finished 11th (105), Melody Hackworth finished 24th (123), and Jessica Serl finished 25th (125). That group will all also advance to districts. 

Finally, Tumwater was led by Lily Wagner and Mily Johnston, who tied for 15th with a score of 112. Sammie Jasper scored a 119 to finish 21st, and Megan Magill was the final district qualifier, finishing 26th with a score of 130. 

The 2A District 4 championships will take place next Monday and Tuesday at Tumwater Valley Golf Course, with a cutoff for the second day.
