An elderly Tenino woman was killed in a house fire off of 163rd Avenue early Monday morning.

The fire was already fully involved when a neighbor woke up shortly before 4:30 a.m. and noticed a glow outside her window and went to investigate, according to South Thurston Fire Chief Andrew Schaffran.

The neighbor confirmed the house was on fire and called 911.

South Thurston Fire and EMS and West Thurston Fire responded and found the woman inside the house, deceased. She was the primary homeowner and lived alone, according to Schaffran. Her identity has not yet been released to the public.

Fire crews remained on the scene until around noon on Nov. 8 extinguishing the fire and mopping up the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
