Travelers who use northbound Interstate 5 through Centralia and Chehalis in Lewis County should plan for nighttime delays through Friday, Feb. 23.

The work is set to begin on Wednesday night.

Contractor crews working for the Washington state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will close the northbound lanes of I-5 between Harrison Avenue and 13th Street to perform emergency pavement repairs caused by recent extreme winter weather, according to a news release.

Crews will fully close northbound I-5 and detour all travelers to the Harrison Avenue off- and on-ramp at Exit 82, to detour around the closure. From 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 21, until 5 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 22; from 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, until 6:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23; and from 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, until 5 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24.

“During the overnight closures, travelers should slow down as they approach the work zone, follow directional signs and expect delays,” WSDOT stated in a news release, adding,” This work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled.”
