Posted

People traveling southbound on Interstate 5 near Vader in Lewis County should plan for daytime delays this weekend, the Washington state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced Thursday.

On Saturday, Sept. 23, and Sunday, Sept. 24, WSDOT maintenance crews will shift traffic on the southbound span of the I-5 Cowlitz River Bridge from two lanes of travel down to one lane during annual bridge inspections.

Crews will close the right lane along the southbound span of the I-5 Cowlitz River Bridge and the off-ramp at Exit 59 from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23; and crews will close the left lane along the southbound span of the I-5 Cowlitz River Bridge near milepost 59 from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24.

To keep both travelers and inspectors safe, WSDOT asks travelers to slow down, pay attention and use caution through the work zone.
