Fire crews fight 1-acre brush blaze in Centralia on Thursday

Posted

The Riverside Fire Authority and the state Department of Natural Resources extinguished a 1-acre brush fire that broke out in a mowed hayfield in the 200 block of Teitzel Road in Centralia Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews were dispatched to the scene at 2:38 p.m. on Aug. 3, according to the Riverside Fire Authority.

While the fire potentially threatened timber near the property, a roadway between the burning hayfield and the timber created a fire line that protected the trees, according to Riverside.

Crews cleared the scene at 5:05 p.m. on Thursday.

No injuries or structural damage was reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
