The Black Hills softball team got back on track Tuesday, beating Shelton 8-3 in a 2A EvCo clash.

The Wolves (3-8, 8-11 2A EvCo) matched their guests with a run in the second inning and two in the third. Tied 3-3 going into the fifth, Black Hills got started fast with three straight hits, with Sam West bringing two runs in on a single to put the Wolves ahead. After Shelton got two outs on the board, Black Hills drew back-to-back walks before Brynna Elliot drove two runs in, and two more walks made it 8-3.

Ella Goheen took the ball in the circle for the Wolves and earned the win, spinning five innings and allowing three runs on three hits and three walks. After the Wolves took the lead, Zoey Theophilus took over in the six and put up two perfect frames.

Black Hills is out of playoff contention, but can make a whole lot of trouble in its season finale; the Wolves will go to Tumwater on Wednesday with a chance to force their rivals down a few pegs in the standings.
