Four Warriors in Double-Figures Lead Rochester Past Centralia

The Rochester boys basketball team earned its first win of the winter Wednesday, taking down Centralia 71-47 at home.

The Warriors held the Tigers to five points in the first quarter and eight in the second, going into halftime with a 31-13 lead and never looking back.

Centralia found its offense in the second half, with Cohen Ballard scoring all 18 of his points after the break, but it would only be enough to keep the deficit where it was.

Brayden O’Connor and Kai Robbins both scored 16 points to lead the Warriors, with Renz Payne and Carson Rotter right behind them at 13.

Carlos Vallejo joined Ballard on 18 points for the Tigers — in fact, he scored all 13 of Centralia’s points in the first half — but besides those two, the rest of the visiting lineup only mustered 11 points.

Centralia (1-5, 0-2 2A EvCo) will host undefeated Tumwater on Friday. Rochester (1-4, 1-3 2A EvCo) is currently set to get two weeks off, then go to Napavine for a non-league matchup on Dec. 30.
