Three Adna freshmen combined for 23 points as Adna walloped Willapa Valley in a 65-21 victory at the annual Jack Q. Pearson Holiday Classic at Willapa Valley High School in Menlo on Thursday.

Adna coach Chris Bannish was impressed by the play of his three freshmen as Kendall Humphrey scored 11 points and Danika Hallom and Gaby Guard each finished with six.

“That’s encouraging to see,” Bannish said. “Wanted to give a shout out to them.”

The Pirates jumped on the Vikings early with senior point guard Kaylin Todd knocking down two 3s out the gate. She finished with eight points.

Brooklyn Loose caught fire from downtown, connecting on four 3-pointers and scoring a game-high 12 points. Karlee Von Moos and Faith Wellander each added 10 points.

“We backed out of our pressure early and worked on some half-court stuff,” Bannish said.”

Todd was named the tournament MVP, while Wellander and Von Moos each made the all-tourney team. Assistant coach Mike Marte also made the all-tourney team as well.

Adna improves to 6-4 overall and will host Kalama in Central 2B League action on Jan. 6.
