Friday's Women's College Basketball: Blazers Fall to Umpqua

Centralia had trouble scoring in the second and third quarters to allow Umpqua to win 73-54 in a NWAC non-regional women’s basketball game at the Centralia College Blazer Classic on Friday at Michael Smith Gymnasium in Centralia.

Caitlin Yenne led the Blazers with 17 points. Rachel Wilkerson scored nine points off the bench and Megan Cash tallied seven points and six rebounds.

Grace Campbell had 19 points and Cielo Gonzalez chipped in 16 points for the Riverhawks.



Centralia shot just 28 percent from the field while Umpqua shot 47 percent from the field and 35 percent from behind the arc.

Umpqua led 23-17 after the first quarter and was able to build a sizeable advantage in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Blazers 37-18 to pull away for the win.

Centralia (2-3) faces Blue Mountain on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the second game of the Centralia College Blazer Classic.
