Gavin Fugate exploded for seven total touchdowns, including six through the air, and W.F. West dominated Shelton for a 60-20 road victory in 2A Evergreen Conference action Friday.

Fugate was laser-sharp in the passing game, throwing for a career-high 387 yards on an efficient 19 of 28 passing and six scores. He added a 67-yard rushing touchdown and led the rushing attack as well with 11 carries for 105 yards.

“Throwing the ball worked well with Fugate running the fly-read option,” W.F. West coach Dan Hill said.

The Bearcats racked up 564 total yards of offense and reeled off five-straight touchdowns to run away with the game and seal the victory.

Cameron Amoroso hauled in eight catches for 206 yards and two scores, while Logan Moore added a rushing and a receiving touchdown, finishing with four catches for 88 yards.

Hill was pleased with how his team rebounded from their loss to Tumwater last week.

“We finally quit shooting ourselves in the foot,” Hill said. “When we don’t do that, we put up a lot of points. The defense started playing better, too. Something changed in our team in the third quarter.”

W.F. West (3-2, 1-1) hosts Rochester on Friday.
