Senior Tony Groninger led all scorers with 23 points and Rochester picked up its third win of the season with a 70-64 win over visiting Elma Monday in a non-league contest.

The Warriors built a 34-29 lead at the half and then held off Elma’s comeback attempt, outsourcing the Eagles 19-16 in the final frame to preserve the victory.

“Both teams came out flat from the Christmas snow break,” Rochester coach Derrick Pringle said. “It was a good win for the team after losing by 13 in Seaside two weeks ago. Everyone got to play and contribute.”

Groninger scored 18 of his 23 points in the second half and knocked down four 3-pointers on the night. He added four steals, two boards, two assists and was 7 of 8 from the charity stripe.

Sawyer Robbins posted a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds to go with four steals and two assists.

Rochester heads to Aberdeen Wednesday to begin 2A Evergreen Conference action.
