Halloween is upon us, and with the holiday landing on a Thursday this year, there are plenty of events throughout the Lewis County area for those who don’t want to restrict their celebration to the weekend.
Following is a calendar of Halloween events in the Lewis County area on Wednesday, Oct. 30 and Thursday, Oct. 31. If you have an event to add to this calendar online, email news@chronline.com.
Veterans Memorial Museum to host fifth annual Trunks with Treats event
Oct. 30, 100 SW Veterans Way Chehalis; 6 p.m.
Last year, approximately 2,800 people attended the Veterans Memorial Museum’s annual Trunks with Treats event. The Chehalis museum is gearing up to host the fifth annual Trunks with Treats event is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Live 95 KITI Radio will be on hand for a remote broadcast during the event.
A total of 55 vehicles were involved in last year’s event, which went until the candy ran out, a period of about three and a half hours.
Candy was donated by local residents and small businesses in addition to larger donations from the Walmart Supercenter and the UNFI distribution center.
Around 1,600 pounds worth of candy was given out during last year’s event, according to Veterans Memorial Museum Executive Director Chip Duncan.
The Veterans Memorial Museum is located at 100 SW Veterans Way in Chehalis and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cooks Hill Community Church Halloween Fun at Open Gym
Oct. 30, 2400 Cooks Hill Road, Centralia; 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Open Gym is for kids ages birth to 5 years old. There will be treat bags, a photobooth, the Open Gym bounce houses and more. Costumes are encouraged. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Cooks Hill Coffee will be open.
All-Ages Costume and Scary-oke Party
Oct. 30, McFiler’s Bar & Grill, 543 Northwest Pacific Ave., Chehalis; 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
This family-friendly event invites you to dress up and sing your favorite Halloween-themed songs KaraFun has a huge selection of songs to choose from. KJ Wednezdey will also have a list of songs fitting the evening's haunted theme. All ages until 11 p.m., at which point the event will be 21-and-over until 1 a.m.
Trick-or-Treat Transit
Oct. 31 Fairway Center, 1600 South Gold St.; 3 to 5:30 p.m.,
The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce and Lewis County Transit will provide a free shuttle service between Centralia and Chehalis for kids to trick-or-treat in both cities. Pickup is at the Fairway Center across from the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds.
The shuttle will stop at the Lewis County Historical Museum in Chehalis and Centralia Bible Chapel and Pine Street Plaza in Centralia. New this year are vendors stationed at Fairway Center who will be giving out free candy and treats. Participating vendors include Community Mediation Center, Ziply Fiber, T-Mobile, Washington Orthopaedic Center, Sticklin Funeral Chapel and Brown Mortuary.
In addition, the bus stops near The Creamery, which will be offering special Halloween treats. Lewis County Transit will decorate its buses for the event, making the ride even more festive and fun, the chamber stated in a news release.
Centralia downtown trick-or-treating
Oct. 31, Downtown Centralia; 3 to 5:30 p.m.
Participating businesses will hand out candy to local kids. This is a free, family-friendly event. All members of the public are welcome to attend regardless of age.
Chehalis downtown trick-or-treating
Oct. 31 Downtown Chehalis; 3 to 5:30 p.m.
Local shops will be passing out candy along with the Chehalis police and fire departments, who will have a spooktacular set up next to McFiler’s Chehalis Theater.
Winlock-Olequa Senior Center trunk-or-treat
Oct. 31, 119 Southwest Kerron Ave., Winlock; 3:30 p.m.
Bring your decorated trunk and candy to pass out to the kids on Halloween afternoon, or bring the kids to get some special treats and see the seniors.
Centralia Outlets trick-or-treat
Oct. 31 1342 Lum Road, Centralia; 4 to 6:30 p.m.
A safe and friendly trick-or-treat event at the Centralia Outlets. Bring your kids dressed up in their best costumes to trick-or-treat throughout the Centralia Outlets at our participating stores while candy supplies last. Parents, don’t forget to check out store savings while you are here.
Newaukum Grange trunk-or-treat
Oct. 31, 104 Brown Road East and State Route 603, Chehalis; 4 to 6 p.m.
All children ages 12 and under are welcome. Costumes are encouraged.
St. Timothy Episcopal Church book-or-treat
Oct. 31, 1826 Southwest Snively Ave., Chehalis; 5 to 7 p.m.
Trick-or-treaters and their chaperones are encouraged to stop by for free books, treats, crafts and a warm place to take a break.
Lewis County Fire District 5 trunk-or-treat
Oct. 31, 102 Second Ave. NE, Napavine; 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Join Napavine firefighters and police officers at this fun community event for the little ghouls and goblins of Napavine. Members of the community are welcome to participate in the trunk-or-treat event. Reach out to 360-880-2810 to register your vehicle and receive more information.
Centralia Church of the Nazarene trunk-or-treat
Oct. 31, 1119 W. First St., Centralia; 6 to 8 p.m.
An evening of candy, creative trunks and family-friendly fun. Dress up in your favorite costume, bring your friends, and enjoy a safe, festive environment for all ages.
Brooks Baked Goods trunk-or-treat
Oct. 31, 1752 state Route 508, Onalaska; 6 p.m.
Trunk-or-treat in the bakery parking lot.
Kid-friendly haunted house
Oct. 31, Packwood Elementary School gym, 12990 U.S. Highway 12, Packwood; 4 to 7:30 p.m.
Entry is by donation. Sponsored by the White Pass Historical Society, Packwood Improvement Club, Hampton Lumber Mill and Packwood Chevron.
Boo-Coda Haunted House
Oct. 29 to 31, 403 N. Nenant St., Bucoda; 7 to 10 p.m.
Admission is $13 at the door.
Juice Box Halloween Party
Oct. 31, 216 S. Tower Ave., Centralia; 8 to 11 p.m.
Free family-friendly event. Mirinda from Jones Creek will be Frankensteining the tunes, public voting for their pumpkin carving contest will be wrapping up, and the annual Halloween costume contest will commence.
