Harrison, O’Dell Win for Centralia at EvCo Meet

Centralia earned itself a pair of individual wins at Borst Park in a 2A EvCo get-together with Black Hills and Rochester on Wednesday, with senior Devin Harrison taking first in the boys race and freshman Elyse O’Dell winning the girls race.

Black Hills won the boys meet, followed by Centralia in second and Rochester in third. The Tigers beat the Wolves in a dual meet on the girls’ side.

O’Dell beat the field in the girls race by over a minute at 23:37.5, with Black Hills sophomore Zaniah Robinson (24:45.6) and junior Taelor Woo (24:45.6) taking second and third, respectively.

Keira Jones (25:00.03) was third for Centralia, with Ruth Gonzalez (25:02.4) right behind her. Riley Meade finished seventh for the Tigers in 26:36.8, while Summer Holmes rounded out the team score in 28:46.9 for 10th.

Loralei Upton (26:36.8) finished six for Black Hills, and Adeline Rice (28:12.6) was eighth.

Harrison won the boys race with a time of 17:47.7, followed by Black Hills’ Luke Grunenfelder (18:19.6) and Rochester’s Taydee Evenstar (18:41.0).

Behind them, junior Truman Wimsett (18:43.6) and freshman Mason Burke (18:55.9) gave Black Hills a chokehold on the team title, with Wyatt Jackson’s 10th-place time of 20:42.8 and Maack Hendrickson’s 11th-place finish in 20:47.8 sealing the deal.

Centralia’s freshman duo of Evan Thummel (20:26.1) and Eli Baldwin (20:28.9) finished seventh and eighth, respectively. Aiden Cox finished 12th in 20:57.2, and Gavin Etter rounded out the team score with a 14th-place run of 22:31.4.

After Evenstar, Rochester got top-10 finishes from Reece Calica (19:52.8) and Hunter Young (20:39.6), while Hunter Morgan (21:21.1) was 13th and Lodun Coombs (22:50.1) finished 15th.
