Savannah Hawkins’ three-run bomb in the bottom of the first fueled to W.F. West to a 13-0 victory in five innings over Rochester in 2A Evergreen Conference action at the Chehalis Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Hawkins was an efficient 3 for 3 at the plate with three RBI and three runs as the Bearcats pounded out 14 hits on the Warriors.

Staysha Fluetsch added a three-run homer in the third inning and finished 2 for 3 with four RBIs and two runs. Brielle Etter and Kamy Dacus each were 3 for 3, with Etter scoring three times and Dacus driving in two runs.

“Everyone was putting the ball in play and hitting the ball hard,” W.F. West coach Caty Lieseke said.

The Bearcats led 3-0 after Hawkins’ homer in the first, then went up 7-0 following Fluetsch’s bomb in the third. W.F. West put the game out of reach in the fourth with six more runs behind doubles from Dacus, Avalon Myers and Fluetsch, along with a triple by Etter.

As the Bearcats put on a hit parade offensively, Dacus was making the Warriors’ offense do the opposite. Dacus tossed a five-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts and three walks on 70 pitches to keep the Warriors off-balance.

“We just played a complete game in all aspects,” Lieseke said. “It was encouraging to see.”

The Warriors lone offense came from its three walks: one each from Sara Haury (0-1), Jessa Lenzi (0-1) and McKenna Vassar (0-1).

Rochester starter Layna Demers lasted 3.1 innings, surrendering 11 runs on 12 hits and one walk with two strikeouts. Senior Sadie Knutson pitched 0.2 innings of relief, giving up one earned run on two hits and no walks with one K.

Rochester (5-3) heads to Black Hills for an EvCo matchup at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

W.F. West (7-2) continues league play when it hosts Tumwater at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
