A tough day at the plate far-removed for the W.F. West softball team from Tuesday, the Bearcats bounced back to defeat 3A Kelso soundly at home Wednesday in five innings, 10-0.

The Bearcats scored in every inning but the fourth, and racked up 13 hits, highlighted by Savannah Hawkins left field smash for a grand slam and four runs in the second inning.

Kamy Dacus and Staysha Fluetsch combined to throw a shutout, with Dacus going four innings and striking out six, while Fluetsch came in in the fifth and finished it off. They combined to allow just two hits.

Rachel Gray also starred, going 1 for 2 at the plate with two RBIs. Avalon Myers had an RBI-triple, and Kallee Corey, Breanna Crosby, Gray, and Hawkins also hit doubles.

The Bearcats will look to keep it rolling against Black Hills on Friday.
