Behind two goals from striker Luis Hernandez and the first shutout of the season from goalie Carter Nash, the Toledo/Winlock United boys soccer team secured a 3-0 Class 1A Trico League victory over Onalaska on Friday night.

United (5-5, 4-5 Trico) swept the season series with its newly-formed rival. Both of United’s first half goals came on free kicks within the first 15 minutes. Mateo Leon struck the back of the net in the third minute and Hernandez did the same in the 14th minute.

Nash kept Onalaska (0-8, 0-8) off the board when it brought numbers forward. Hernandez scored in the 78th minute on a counter-attack to finish off the victory. United will play at Winlock against Stevenson.

The Loggers host Columbia (White Salmon) on Monday.

“I was proud with the effort (my) boys played with,” Onalaska head coach Luis Magana said. “They definitely embraced this new local rivalry. I call it friendly because there is no love lost.”
