Seth Hoff won the boys javelin event and the W.F. West girls won the 4x200 relay on Saturday at Kent-Meridian High School’s KM Invite track meet.

Hodaya Starr, Amanda Bennett, Brenna Witchey and Amelia Etue finished the relay in 1:51.85, edging out Glacier Peak by five-hundredths of a second.

“Amelia Etue had a battle to the finish to lead the team,” W.F. West coach Autumn Ledgerwood said. “That is a solid team of girls who are now ranked third in the state 2A.”

Kyla McCallum added a second-place finish in the javelin at 110 feet, the second-best toss in the 2A ranks this season. Bennett took third in the javelin (104 feet, 5 inches) and Witchey was third in the triple jump with a personal record 33-04.

The Bearcat girls finished fifth in the team standings.

On the boys side, Hoff won the javelin by nearly four feet at 156-04.

The Bearcats’ 4x800 relay team — Austin Adams, Jaysen Miles, Damian Carroll and Tanner Wallin — finished fourth.

W.F. West runs in a three-team 2A Evergreen Conference meet on Wednesday at Black Hills with Abedeen.
