Fairway Lanes in Centralia has a new paint job.

According to posts on social media, Thomas Sutley recently completed murals on the local bowling alley, with artwork inside and outside the facility.

“Thanks Thomas for doing such an awesome job on the murals!” Fairway Lanes wrote on Facebook. “We love them! Highly recommend everyone go to Thomas for their mural needs!”

Sutley thanked Irisa Kennedy for assistance on the project and implored residents to visit and support the business.

“If you haven't been in since the rona swept through, stop in and give some love to the owners and staff who have poured a lot of soul into keeping this place alive,” Sutley wrote. “Hopefully we only added some of our own hearts and souls into this treasure.”

Jeff and Julie Walker purchased the 18-lane bowling alley in April 2021 from longtime owners Steve and Tim Turner. Financial concerns brought on by the coronavirus pandemic and family health issues led the family to sell the business.

The business was closed for about five months following the first months of the pandemic, and the owners had a hard time recovering, according to previous reporting.

The Walkers renovated and otherwise fixed up the 63-year-old bowling alley. Work completed included mechanical work on lanes, plumbing repairs, new flooring and countertops, a new bar top and fresh coats of paint. They also rebranded the cafe into a bar and grill. The grill area of the bowling alley features concession food items including fried foods, French dips and other sandwiches.

Fairway Lanes Bar is located at 1501 S. Gold St. in Centralia. Keep up with the happenings of the bowling alley by following the business on Facebook.
