Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived by helicopter at Adna Elementary School on Saturday, Dec. 7, where they met with local children and handed out toys.
“Yesterday, we got lucky with the weather for a short period of time, so Santa was able to fly in by helicopter to the Adna Grade School,” wrote Adna Grocery owner Jim Smith, who put the event on along with his wife, Cindy. “I’m guessing we had approximately 100 kids that got to sit with Santa and receive a gift. A few thank yous go out to some great helpers: Rob Taylor, for making sure that Santa and Mrs. Santa arrived safely in his helicopter; Rob and Jen Snaza for being our backup in case the helicopter couldn’t fly; of course, Santa and Mrs. Santa, Ryan and Maddie Deskins; our Elves, Jesse, Jack and Sage; Angie Krause for the hot chocolate; Pacific Northwest Cookie for supplying us with lots of cookies; and grade school principal Randy Torrey. This couldn’t have taken place without our anonymous money donors; your donations keep this event going for the kids and the community. I have to say, this is the most gratifying event that Cindy and I put on. The kids and parents alike get so excited when that helicopter comes in with Santa. Kinda chokes you up a little. Thanks to all the parents, grandparents and kids that showed.”
