In Loving Memory of Arvon Walter Agren: 1930-2021

Posted

Arvon Walter Agren, 91, of Seattle, Washington, passed away gently and peacefully on July 17, 2021.

Arvon was born on Feb. 21, 1930 to Iva and Isaac Agren in Chehalis, Washington. Arv had two older brothers Merle and Loren. Growing up during the tough depression years formed the foundation for Arv’s work ethic, drive and thirst to help others.

He graduated from Chehalis High School in 1948 and worked many jobs until he enlisted in the Air Force in 1950 like his older brothers before him.

Arv remembered his service years proudly and fondly, including the snowy Christmas he spent in a small English village and the many friends he made and treasured for over 65 years.

In 1954, Arv returned from overseas and enrolled at the University of Washington. After earning a degree in business, Arv continued his banking career with National Bank of Commerce.

In 1964, Arv married Dolores Ann Hebert on Oct. 17. They were married for 48 years until her passing on March 7, 2012.

Arv enjoyed two very successful careers, the first was in banking where he was vice president at National Bank of Commerce. Upon his retirement from banking, Arv began a second career in real estate, which was his lifelong passion.

Arv always had a passion for real estate. He enjoyed buying fixer uppers. He had quite a portfolio of properties bought and sold over the years. He also enjoyed advising others on real estate deals. Just one week before he passed, with excitement in his eyes, he was talking about a house he saw in Magnolia that he wanted to buy and fix up.

Arv’s other lifelong passion were his many treasured friends. He loved to bring people together and to entertain. We will miss his warmth, his friendship and even his corny jokes. Arv is survived by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

We will miss Arv, but are comforted knowing he’s buying up real estate in heaven for us to move into one day.

A funeral service will be held at Sticklin Funeral Chapel, 1437 S. Gold St., Centralia, WA 98531, on Aug. 17, 2021 at 11 a.m. A buffet lunch will be served directly after.
