Bea was born Feb. 6, 1935, as Beulah Turner in Chehalis. Raised mostly by her grandmother, she graduated from Chehalis High School in 1953. Bea received the Faculty Achievement Award upon her graduation. She married and raised four children — Mike Clark, Teresa Clark, Susan Kostenborder and Diane Engels. This union ended in divorce. She later married again with her husband preceding her in death. Bea had a long career in banking, first in Salem while her children were smaller, and later in the Seattle area with Shoreline Savings in management and retiring from Washington Federal Savings as manager of the Ballard Branch. One of Bea's passions was Rotary International. She went four times to Ethiopia dispensing polio vaccines to children. She attended more than 15 Rotary International conventions in this country and around the world.
Bea is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Ralph and Kitty Turner, Chehalis, Betty Morris, Centralia, and Nancy Turner, Centralia. There are also numerous, much loved schoolmates from her days in Chehalis schools. She loved life and lived it to the fullest.
There will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. June 1 at the Rosedale Friends Church in Salem, Oregon. Memorials may be made to the Chehalis Foundation, CHS Class of 1953 or the Marion-Polk Co. Food Share, Salem, Oregon.
