In Loving Memory of Bonita Williams: 1943-2021

Posted
On Friday July 9, 2021, Bonita Kay Williams, loving mother and grandmother passed away unexpectedly.
Bonnie was born November 11, 1943, in Sharon, North Dakota to Archie and Josie (Peterson) McKenzie. She was raised on the family’s farm in Arvilla and graduated from Larimore High School. She then went on to study nursing at North Dakota State School of Science.
Bonnie eventually married and welcomed the arrival of her two beloved sons, Mitch and Chad. The young family moved around Wyoming, living in several small mining towns before eventually moving west and settling down in Chehalis. Shortly after arriving in Washington, Bonnie began her career at Centralia Providence Hospital. Starting as a nurse she transitioned to a successful career in medical records where she spent most of her 35 years working.
Forever a farm kid, a piece of her heart always belonged to the rolling hills of Wyoming and prairies of the Dakotas. She loved animals and her garden, caring greatly for both in retirement. She also loved to travel with her family around the United States as well as Europe and Asia. She was a devoted friend with a card for every occasion at the ready and always willing to chat over a plate of her famous sugar cookies. Her generous spirit, honest advice and quick wit will be missed by many.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Josie, former husband Ken Williams and her beloved corgi, Darby, a neighborhood celebrity. She is survived by her sons Mitch (Susan) Chehalis, WA and Chad (Kathy) Spring, TX and her grandchildren Ryan, Clarissa, Matthew, Sarah and Josie.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 for family and close friends at Claquato Cemetery. Following the services, an open house will be held from approximately 11:00 until 2:00 at her home for all those who knew and loved Bonnie. Donations may be made in her name to Lewis County Work Opportunities.
