In loving memory of Brenda "Ellen" Green: 1942-2025

Posted

Brenda “Ellen” Green passed away on Feb. 18, 2025, in Bellevue, Washington, after a lengthy struggle with Lewy Body Parkinson’s Disease. Ellen was born to Ernest and Betty Child on Dec. 27, 1942, in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. At the age of 3, her family moved to Woodinville, Washington, and established a dairy on the land of what is now the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery. At the end of her elementary school years, her family moved to Enumclaw, Washington, and she graduated from Enumclaw High in 1961.

Ellen then attended WSU and dental hygienist school before marrying John Green in 1966. Following their wedding, they moved to Cold Bay, Alaska, where John was working. They built a lifetime of memories in this remote location, but eventually moved back to Washington, settling in Rochester where Ellen resided for over 40 years. They raised their daughter and cared for a Hobby Farm that included their well-loved registered Jersey cows and a menagerie of other animals.

Ellen spent most of her life breeding, raising and caring for her beloved Jerseys. She always looked forward to showing them at the annual fairs and she had an excellent eye for developing quality animals. Ellen also enjoyed sewing, reading, British Royalty, collecting teapots and taking weekend drives. She managed the Oneida Factory Outlet store in Centralia, Washington, for many years and enjoyed all of their silver products. In 2018, she moved to Patriot’s Glen Assisted Living in Bellevue, Washington, to be closer to her daughter’s family. She made many friends in her new home and enjoyed all of the activities and regular visits from her granddaughters.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, John Green; and parents, Ernest and Betty Child. She is survived by her brother, Gary Child (Susan Boren); her daughter, Holly Green (Engwin Chang); and her granddaughters, Sydney and Elle Chang.

She will remain forever loved and in her family’s memories.
