Cheryl Alden Ames was born on Nov. 22, 1951, at the St. Helens Hospital, Chehalis, Washington, and passed away with family present on Jan. 25, 2025, at Providence Centralia Hospital.
She was preceded by her parents, George and Wilma Alden; sister, Marilyn; and brother, William. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Benny Ames; and children Jinelle (Mun), Jae, Mindy, Carissa, Enrico and Willis (Willy); grandkids, Kyla, Ethan, Aiden, Jacie, Kelcie, Ethen and Campbell; her sister, Suzanne (Rick); her brother-in-law, Mike; and her sister-in-law, Marsha.
She attended Boistfort Elementary and graduated from Pe Ell High School in 1970. Cheryl worked as an administrative assistant at the Soil Conservation District since Jan. 1, 1986, retired in 2023, and worked as a contractor from 2023-2024.
Cheryl and her family raised and showed Pinzgauer cows from 1981-2006. They went to local and state fairs on the West Coast to promote the Pinzgauer breed in the US. She was the beef superintendent for the Spring Youth Fair through the 90s. Cheryl also bred and showed Boston Terriers since 2005 to the present. Her Boston Terriers were adopted by families all over the country. The glass art she created was gifted to friends and family that are both beautiful and cherished. The Pub Girls was a weekly event of her closest friends with whom she also traveled to other countries and events.
Her memorial service will be held at the Pe Ell Methodist Church, 411 First Street, Pe Ell, Washington, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, with a reception following at the Pe Ell VFW.
