On Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, Christine L. Benfield passed away surrounded by her family at the age of 88. Born in 1933 in Tuscon, Arizona, she graduated high school in 1951 and worked in several fields including banking, real estate and civil service.
Christine moved to Washington with her loving husband, Lawrence N. Benfield, and three children in 1966. She was preceded in death by Lawrence and also by her sister, Loretta Mitchell. Christine is survived by her three children, including Larry Benfield, Bonnie Pittman and Steve Benfield, and two sisters, Nadine and Bernadette.
Christine had Alzheimer's in her later years and lived with her daughter's family in Centralia. Christine loved meeting and helping people. She also enjoyed garage sales. But mostly, she loved her family and farming. The family had a farm in Rochester for many years. She was quick to help her neighbors and always kind to strangers. Christine was a loving, supportive mother and grandmother to her 23 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at the Mountain View Baptist Church in Centralia on Belmont Ave. at 11 a.m.
