In Loving Memory of Darian Paige Atkinson: 1996-2021

Posted

On Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021, our most cherished Darian Paige Atkinson passed away unexpectedly at the age of 25. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Buck and Jane Marll; uncles George Miller, Kenny Marll and Clyde Marll; paternal grandmother Marlene Allen, and uncle Walt Atkinson.

The youngest of two children, Darian was loved by all who met her. She was born on May 11, 1996, in Centralia, Washington to Curt and Kelly Atkinson of Glenoma, Washington. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandfather Lennis Allen of Morton, Washington; sister and brother-in-law Shelby and Kolby Muir of Tacoma, Washington; fiancé Michael Johnson of Randle, Washington; two nieces Braelyn and Bristol Muir, who were the absolute lights of her life; and her son Jaxon Johnson who was the center of her universe.

Darian attended elementary school in Chehalis then Randle, Washington. She was a 2014 graduate of White Pass High School in Randle, Washington then went on to Yakima Valley Community College where she played softball. As a Type 1 diabetic since age 7, she didn’t allow that to define her and she lived her life to the fullest. She won the hearts of the entire White Pass/Morton communities through her competitive nature and her natural ability to play sports. Most of her school years were busy playing basketball and softball.

Darian was very family oriented and made sure she and Jaxon facetimed her mom and nieces nearly every day. She had a zest for adventure and said “yes” to every idea or activity thrown at her. She enjoyed camping, hiking, snow shoeing, kayaking, crafting, shopping, cooking new recipes and visiting with friends. Her never-ending infectious smile spread light everywhere she went as did her quick wit. Wedding plans were her current focus as she and Michael had just set plans for their wedding on July 23, 2022 in Cle Elum, followed by a honeymoon to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Darian was employed by Arbor Health in Morton as an ER tech and loved her job as well as her work family. She cared deeply for her community and all those who reside within it.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the Glenoma Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the Darian Atkinson Memorial Scholarship.

Donations can be mailed to the White Pass Scholarship Fund, PO Box 495, Randle, Washington, 98377 in Darian’s name or online at paypal@ whitepassscholarship.
