Dennis Hadaller passed away peacefully on Dec. 28, 2021 at Providence Centralia Hospital. He was born on Oct. 17, 1927 in Onalaska, Washington to Louie and Minnie Hadaller. Dennis grew up on a farm along U.S. Highway 12 in Ethel, Washington alongside his two brothers and his sister.
The day after his high school graduation, Dennis began his career in logging as he worked his way up in the logging arena from choker setter to shovel operator, but his favorite role was hauling logs. Eventually, Dennis started the Hadaller Logging and Trucking Company. During his 40-plus years in the woods, he worked with many logging companies big and small including Burlington Northern, Weyerhaeuser and fiGeorgia Pacific. He was so well-respected within the logging work that he was asked to consult for companies like Caterpillar and served two terms as president of the Washington State Contract Loggers Association.
Once he entered retirement, Dennis wanted to give back to the people of Lewis County and was elected as the county commissioner of the third district for eight years.
Dennis had many hobbies and passions including cattle ranching, elk hunting, and salmon fishing both in the ocean and up on the Cooper River in Alaska. He also made many trips to Reno and the Lucky Eagle with his life partner, Susan Lemoi. Dennis is known near and far for his dedication to his mother and stepfather as he played an instrumental role in solving their murders.
Dennis is survived by his loving partner, Susan Lemoi of Mossyrock, Washington; his children Jennifer (Michael) Covello of Mahomet, Illinois, Michael (Vonda) Hadaller of Salkum, Washington, and Jenelle (Ernie) Trulson of Onalaska, Washington; his nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and brother Dale Hadaller. He was preceded in death by his father Aloysius “Louie” Hadaller, mother Wilhemia “Minnie” Maurin, stepfather Edward Maurin, brother Delbert Hadaller, and sister Hazel Oberg.
There will be a funeral service for Dennis Hadaller on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier, Toledo, Washington followed by a reception.
