In Loving Memory of Dennis Overbay: 1949-2022

Posted

Dennis Phillip Overbay was born in Tacoma, Washington to Phil and Beverly Overbay on Feb. 15, 1949 and passed away Feb. 26, 2022 in Centralia, Washington.

Dennis spent a short time in Tacoma, Yelm and then in the town of Riffe for several years, before moving to Silver Creek. He graduated in 1967 from Mossyrock High School. Dennis was very active in sports from a young age. Dennis was employed in various occupations and eventually the United States Army. He proudly served in Vietnam. Dennis returned home and married Robyn O’Connell and then along came Ryan and Heather.

Dennis was very active in our lives, the community functions, coaching a variety of sports, and was always there to watch our kids’ activities and games. Dennis was not only supportive of our kids, but also for relatives and their activities as well. Dennis was a good bowler, loved to golf, and had a lot of good times with friends and family. He especially loved trips to Hawaii. He very much enjoyed grilling on his Traeger. He loved to work in his yard and enjoyed riding his bike. You could often see him walking the dog through town.

Dennis loved his family and was so proud of his kids, granddaughters and the great-grandsons who made him laugh. Happiness for him was having friends and family visit under his gazebo, listening to the music of the blues.

He is survived by his loving family which includes his mother Beverly Overbay; his wife Robyn; son Ryan (Tina) Overbay; daughter Heather (Terrace) Davis; three granddaughters Abbey Overbay, Drew Overbay and Whitney (Trei) Cline; two great-grandsons Maverick and Raylen; his siblings, Cathy (Kenny) Padrick, Mike (Cheryl) Overbay and Patrick (Donna) Overbay. He will also be lovingly remembered by many relatives and great friends.

Preceding him in death was his father Phil Overbay.

A private ceremony will be held at Doss Cemetery on May 14 at noon. Following the graveside ceremony, there will be a celebration of life at 1 p.m. at the Mossyrock Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in memory of Dennis Overbay to the Viking Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 438, Mossyrock, Washington, 98564.
