In Loving Memory of Derrick Higgenbottom: 1984-2021

Posted

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Derrick Lee Higgenbottom, age 37, our most beloved son, brother, husband, father, family member and friend passed away on Oct. 24, 2021, while in the hospital.

Those that knew Derrick, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. His laugh and smile and his ability to always be there when you needed him made a lasting impression on everyone he ever met. His impact he made with the Toledo youth baseball program will continue to thrive and grow and allow so many future baseball players to learn the game that Derrick loved so dearly.

Derrick will be missed everyday by his wife Kendra Higgenbottom; his son and daughter Asher and Nyah; his father and mother Dennis and Donna Higgenbottom; his sisters Kelsey Duckworth and Madison Higgenbottom; his brother Cody Higgenbottom; and his grandma Irene Higgenbottom; as well as his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, niece, mother-in-law, brother- and sisters-in-law and many, many great friends.

We know that Derrick is now with his Grandpa and Grandma Collier, Grandpa Higgenbottom, father-in-law George Higgins, and his uncles Dave and Dan Higgenbottom and is loved here on Earth as well as in heaven. We love and miss you so much Derrick.

“It is not length of life, but depth of life.”— Ralph Waldo Emerson

His celebration of life will be held at the Toledo Youth Baseball Fields (behind Toledo Elementary School) at 311 S. Sixth St. in Toledo, Washington. This will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. Derrick liked to have fun and be silly so please wear your favorite superhero shirt or costume.
