In Loving Memory of Elaine Irene Waterman: 1950-2021

Posted

Elaine Irene Waterman passed away Nov. 8, 2021, in Tenino, Washington, her home of more than 30 years. She was born Oct. 12, 1950, to Opal and Melvin Waterman in Snohomish, Washington. She lived on an original part of the family’s homestead since she was 6 years old. After graduating from Tenino High School in 1968, she worked at Centralia College, where she also continued her education. Her entire career was spent at the college in a variety of departments as an administrative assistant. She also enjoyed working with students. Although she married briefly twice, she spent the majority of her adult life single and independent. She owned an organic, grass-fed beef farm. She also had ducks and two sheep. In addition, she rescued geese and cats. She had each cat neutered and spayed, and then kept them for the rest of their lives. One of Elaine’s favorite things to do was being a greeter at various local churches, as well as teaching Sunday school classes. She is survived by her sisters Joyce Grubb of Tenino, Barb Schipman of Townsend, Montana, and Diane Jacob of Olympia. She was preceded by her parents. Services will be planned for a later date.
