George William "Bill" Matheson, 89, passed away on Oct. 15, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born in Chehalis, Washington, to George D. and Etta Matheson. Bill graduated from Chehalis High School and went on to get his bachelor's degree from the University of Washington. After getting his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, he was a resident at Harbor General in California and attended a fellowship in Uppsala, Sweden. Bill was a partner in an OB/GYN practice with his father-in-law in Seattle for many years. He eventually became the medical director for Valley Medical Center, and several other health care organizations around the country.
Bill was the "rock" of the family. Along with his wife, Janet, they raised three strong boys, all of whom became wonderful people. Bill lived a life of adventure, traveling to dozens of countries around the world. His passion for photography allowed him to share his memories, and his art, with family and close friends. Grandfather, skier, backpacker and lifelong Sounders fan were just some of Bill’s passions.
Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet Peterson/Matheson; three sons, Kyle, Dale (Leah) and Mark (Reina Nakamura); and three grandchildren.
Please consider remembering Bill through a donation to the Parkinson's Foundation.
The family will be conducting a private memorial service.
