In Loving Memory of Janet Russell: 1938-2022

Posted

Janet M. Russell, 84, a lifelong resident of Rochester, Washington, died Aug. 6, 2022, at her home. She was born April 19, 1938, in Centralia, Washington. She married John E. Russell in 1956, and the couple remained in Rochester, raising four sons. Janet loved watching her sons and grandchildren participate in their activities, particularly baseball and basketball. She would say, “Little League Baseball was a great time in their lives.”

Janet loved working with her hands, and created many beautiful things with her needlepoint, crocheting, and quilting skills. She won numerous blue ribbons at the Southwest Washington Fair for her craftwork. Janet loved maintaining her immaculate yard and was a wonderful stay at home mother who was always there when we needed her. She was very loved and will be missed terribly.

She was preceded in death in 2009 by her loving husband of 53 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her four sons, John, of Lake Oswego, Oregon; Ronald (Barbara) of Rochester; Steven (Cindy) of Rochester; and Scott (Deanna) of Gig Harbor, Washington; as well as seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

All who were touched by this special lady are welcome to attend her celebration of life at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Swede Hall in Rochester.

Her gift to many came about through her love of friends and family, and her love of making quilts. Please help us celebrate her life by bringing a quilt she gave you to display at the celebration.
