In Loving Memory of Janette Ann Buffington: 1940-2021

Janette Ann Buffington, 80, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021. She was born Dec. 11, 1940, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, to Stanley and Isabelle Grygny. She was the oldest of five children.

Jan married Mervin L. Buffington on Aug. 9, 1958, and is survived by her loving husband of 63 years.

Some of Jan’s passions were gardening, continuing education, going to the farmers market and taking trips to places like China where during these trips she would gather gifts for her many friends and family.

Jan worked at Centralia’s Good Health Store where she made friends with most everyone who entered the doors. Her life was a constant passion of learning and growing in knowledge to help others become healthy. She was known as the little white-haired lady and was sought out by many who asked questions specific to their health. She loved to gain knowledge so much that she would often fall to sleep with her headphones on listening to her audio books. Her generous life, loving heart and funny character will be always remembered and missed.

Jan was blessed and loved by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were the pride of her life. All of them referred to her as Gramma’ B or Great Gramma’ B! The grandchildren are Jacob and Annalisa Waunch (parents of three), Jason and Olya Buffington, Chase and Camille Buffington (parents of two), Amber and Josh Kohler (parents of three) and Chelsey Buffington.

She was loved by numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends and community.

Survivors include husband Mervin Buffington, of Centralia, Washington; sons Michael Buffington and Rod (Sheri) Buffington; daughter Kimberly (Mark) Waunch; sisters Kathy Quick, of Vancouver, Washington, Bonnie (Dennis) of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Marcine Wood, of Spokane, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her youngest son Christopher Buffington in 2018 and brother Stan Grygny in 1997.
