In Loving Memory of Larry F. Smith: 1940-2021

Lawrence (Larry) Farley Smith, 81, of Mossyrock, Washington, passed away suddenly at Providence St. Peter's Hospital on Oct. 20, 2021, from cardiac arrest.

Larry was born in South Bend, Washington, on Sept. 13, 1940. Larry was preceded in passing by his parents Lawrence (Red) K. Smith and Mary Belle Nugent Smith. His siblings who preceded him in passing were an older half sister who lived in Texas and an infant baby brother.

Larry is survived by his spouse, Lois Goble; daughters, Beverly Coleman Forrest, Darla Carbaugh (Bruce) and Carmen Smith; grandchildren Kaitlin Garton (Brian), Wyatt Coleman (Yvette Lee), Charlie Carbaugh (Angie), Dallas Carbaugh, Cheyanne Reith; stepson, Jodery Goble (Sandra); step-daughter, Melanie Goble; step-great-granddaughter, Aleah Quinery; sisters, Diane Taylor, Marilyn Harper (Fred) and many nieces, nephews, friends who he mentored, and Cocoa, his pal.

As a young man, Larry worked in the woods as a timber faller for 40 years, a job he cherished because he loved the challenges of the job each day.

Larry was very proud of his family. He touched many lives in his travels. He was a wonderful brother, a true friend and a teacher. His love was for Lois whom he loved dearly and his faithful pal, Cocoa.

A celebration of life will be held at the Brown's Mortuary in Morton, Washington, on Nov. 20 at 11 a.m.. A graveside service will be held at the Morton Cemetery right after the celebration of life. A catered luncheon will be held at the Brown's Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Cowlitz Basin ORV Club at 699 Salmon Creek Road, Mossyrock, Washington, 98564, c/o Chris Clowe, or to a charity of your choice.
