In Loving Memory of Margaret (Maggie) Knapp: 1950-2021

Posted

Margaret (Maggie) Knapp passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side. She was born and raised in Centralia where she lived all her life. She attended St. Mary’s School from first through eighth grade, then went on to Centralia Junior High and graduated from Centralia High School in 1969. During high school, she worked at Walt’s Drive-In and following graduation she went to work for Yard Birds. Shortly after graduation Margaret met her future husband and sweet heart Ron Davis and they married later that same year. They enjoyed many things from camping, traveling and gambling, which included lots of trips over the years to Reno, Disneyland, Hawaii and more. Margaret also enjoyed crocheting afghans that many family members and friends have enjoyed. She also loved to bake and is known for her cinnamon rolls and her “nanny” cake.

Margaret became a stay-at-home mom a couple years later with the birth of their daughter, Julie. She found her dream job at Security State Bank when their son Jamie started school. Margaret not only loved her job and respected those she worked for, she was happiest when she was in her element working with her customers. She worked for Security State Bank for 35 years and had worked at most of the branches in the Centralia and Chehalis area while she worked her way to management. When she retired at the end of 2013, she was the branch manager for the Gold Street branch. Margaret lost her first husband in September 1997 of a massive heart attack. A couple years later, she married the love of her life, Carl Knapp. Margaret and Carl loved to do lots of things from golf, going to the beach, clam digging and traveling.

Margaret suffered a brain aneurysm in December 2013. Carl was by her side consistently, especially these last several years as side effects became more challenging. Margaret would always tell everyone how lucky she was because he was such a great guy!

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Ron Davis (1997), her parents LesCleary (1988), Loretta (Rita) Cleary (2006), her sister and brother-in-law Joan Champlin (2018) Bud Champlin (2020). She is survived by her husband, Carl Knapp; daughter, Julie Pollard (Tom); son, Jamie Davis; step-sons Kyle Knapp and Kevin Knapp (Rebecca); stepdaughter, Kaitlin Meza (Isidro); grandchildren: Birdie Jine; Kaylee Knapp; Ricky Knapp; Gavin Knapp; Emmy Knapp; Carli Meza; Abby Meza; and Ronie (Davis) Roggenkamp. Brothers: Tom Cleary (Tricia); JohnCleary (Patty Lafond); Joe Cleary (Julie), Sisters: Theresa Conners (Don) and Ann Cleary, and lots of nieces and nephews.
