Martin (Jim) Whitson passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 4, at his home in Winlock.
Jim was born in Waynesville, North Carolina, on March 30, 1949, to Martin and Elsie Whitson. After a life wandering across the country with many moves and new schools, his family finally settled in Dryad, Washington. After graduating from Pe Ell, he found a job that let him be outdoors with Weyerhaeuser Co., where he retired after 40 long years.
In 1976, he married Karen Thomas from Boistfort, and together they raised two wonderful children: son Jeramiah and daughter Sara.
Jim is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Karen; his son, Jeramiah; and many extended and loving family members.
He is preceded in death by his father, Martin; mother, Elsie; sister, Kathy; daughter, Sarah; and his beloved Finn.
