In Loving Memory of Melva Hultberg: 1949-2023

Posted

A longtime Centralia resident, Melva Kay Hultberg, passed away surrounded by her loved ones at the University of Utah Hospital on the evening of Feb. 20, 2023.

Melva, a current resident of South Weber, Utah, was born Melva Jennings on Aug. 23, 1949, in Centralia, Washington. She was the daughter of Virginia Nordquist and Melvin (Muggs) Jennings, who are both deceased. Melva spent 41 beautiful years with the love of her life Bradley Hultberg, who is also deceased.

She is survived by many family members, including her older sister, Danah VerValen, of Long Beach, Washington and Happy Trails Resort of Surprise, Arizona; two daughters, Janielle Hultberg, of Centralia, Washington and Katie Maxwell (Ben), of South Weber, Utah; and her granddaughter, Raylee Lancaster (Cameron), of Camden, South Carolina.

She was an amazing woman who was loved deeply by her family and loved them deeply in return. She was the light of her husband’s life while he was still with us and carried his wishes to the end in supporting and loving his girls. She will truly be missed not only by her family but by those whose lives she has touched in the many years she was a teacher’s assistant at Centralia High School and was a social butterfly of Happy Trails Resort in Surprise, Arizona.

We all fondly remember the memories of her days in 4-H and raising horses with her family, walking along the beach, dancing with her husband and playing card games with her best friends Gail and Leon Hudlin, among others. She was a nana, mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend to all who knew her. She will always be loved and forever in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held sometime in June as the family is currently figuring out arrangements.
