In Loving Memory of Norma Wharton: 1931-2022

Norma Jean (Shenie) Wharton, 91, passed away Aug. 13, 2022, in Tenino, Washington, her home of 65 years. She was born March 22, 1931, to Floyd Shultz and Verda Ritter Schultz in Skookumchuck Valley, Tenino, Washington. 

Norma graduated from the Tenino School District in 1949. She married Raymond Gordon Spears in 1949; he passed away in 1950. In 1952, she married Sheridan Wharton; he passed away April 8, 2004. 

Norma will be remembered for her great smile and for giving the best hugs. She had the reputation of being the best baker and best gardener. She was an all-around nice person who never had a bad word to say about anyone. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She also loved quilting, sewing and crocheting. 

She is survived by her sons, Alan Raymond Wharton and Sheridan Glen Wharton; daughter, Pamela Alice Floreck; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by both husbands; daughters, Sherry Wharton (1954) and Lora Jean Nelson (2012); brother, Lleslie Floyd (2021); and sister, Nora May. 

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, 11 a.m. at Forest Grove Cemetery in Tenino, followed by a celebration of life at the Violet Prairie Grange, 18011 North Craft Road, Tenino, Washington, 98589.
