Posted

Norman G. Anderson passed away at his home on Sunday evening, Jan. 29, 2023. He was born in Tacoma, Washington on March 4, 1938.

Norm served our country as a petty officer third class in the United States Navy. Upon returning home, he married the beautiful Royanne Downie. Together, they proudly owned Spud’s Carpet Cleaning. He was also a dependable and caring bus driver for many years in the Chehalis School District. After graduating from the Washington State Police Academy, Norm became a Chehalis police officer for 17 years. After retiring from the force, he spent time working at Fuller Market Basket for several years to fill his time.

Norm loved his family, touched many lives throughout the community and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed many activities during his life like completing word searches, reading his Bible, spending timeless hours reading to learn something new, and loved going fishing with his son, Scott, and his great grandson, Kayson. Being in the fresh air on the lake and at the beach were two of his favorite pastimes. He is most fondly remembered by his children and grandchildren for reading the “Twas the Night Before Christmas” story each Christmas Eve. For many years, they listened to him read it live and through Facetime and Zoom.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Royanne (Downie) Anderson, and six amazing children: Jeroy, Jackie (Brian Eiswald), Debbie (Chip Ambler), Spud (Julie Anderson), Norman and Scott. He deeply loved his 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Jon Anderson (Debbie Anderson), of Long Beach, Washington.

Norm was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Gladys Anderson, brother Bobby Anderson, sister Sharon Wisner, and father and mother-in-law Chuck and Peg Downie.

A celebration of life for this well-loved man will be held at 1 p.m., on March 4, 2023, at the Grace Church, 1866 S. Market Blvd., Chehalis, Washington.
